When attending your first Strength & Balance Blast classes be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes early to learn how to set up your work station.

If you are new to strength training...you are NOT expected to perform at the same level as those who have been taking the classes on a regular basis. If you need a longer break between sets than the class allows--then skip a set and take a longer break. And NEVER be afraid to get a lighter weight or easier tube/Dynaband during a set if you need too--the exercises should "help" you--not "hurt" you.

NEVER miss the warm-up! Muscles that have not been properly  warmed up are very  susceptible to injury when working with weights. However, sometimes being late is unavoidable--in those instances, where ever you happen to jump into class, start with light weights until you feel warmed up enough to use heavier ones. Better safe than sorry!

If you are recovering from an injury or if you have certain limitations in your range of motion, Never hesitate--even during class, to ask for an alternate exercise if the one being performed is causing you discomfort.

Never get competitve--even in good fun, with the people around you to see who can lift heavier weights. You never know when that person might be nuts! If you get crazy and lift too heavy in class, you will only be lifting the pain-reliever medicine bottle later. WORK SMART, WORK HARD BUT USE GOOD SENSE!
