You want me to do what?? OH man....what went wrong

I'm so outta here!
If you do not know how to cook, you have to take lessons, but after a few lessons you are whipping up gourmet meals. The first day at a new job, you feel like a fish out of water until you learn the necessary job tasks. It is the same with Group Fitness classes--you have to take a few classes before the terminology and moves begin to make sense.
This is what I often refer to as the paying your dues through out the learning curve. This is where A LOT of people give up and retreat to the treadmills & stairclimbers. Cardio machines are fine, but they can get boring and at gyms you can have to stand in line to get on one.
Sometimes when someone is new to class, they get embarrassed when they cannot quite catch on to a move. They feel like everyone is watching them. They get frustrated. From the instructor's vantage point in class, I see the frustration on their faces and pray they do not give up!
You have got to be willing to press through all of that--learning these classes is as much learning a new skill as it is to learn how to drive a car. But once you have become a regular at it, you have more workout options, better cross-training, more variety and it is much more fun!
Never let the use of equipment in any of the classes intimidate you out of trying the class. All classes (including Cardio classes) can be done without until you feel comfortable using it!
